Yesterday Mr. Rove addressed a meeting of the National Council of La Raza, a racist organization that is brazen enough to blatantly call themselves "The Race" and openly advocate racist ideas. This is worse than addressing a Klan rally, because at least the Klan doesn't advocate treason. Most Republicans refuse to address the NAACP because of their racist and politically biased rhetoric. La Raza is worse than the NAACP. One day the Republican Party will look back at yesterday with immense shame, hopefully soon.
Unless the Republican nominee in 2008 openly repudiates this type of pandering to illegal immigrants and racists, the Republican Party just lost my vote in 2008.

I guess I am missing where they make racist statements as an organization. Yes they have had idividuals from the organization make statements are are questionable at best...but if they are trying to be more moderate they need to listen to what Rove has to say. I guess if the KKK stated that White superiority wasn't there goal we would have to talk to them. Ignorance leads to fear.
With that in mind I am not headed to my local La Raza meeting any time soon.

Just to be clear:
1) La Raza, by name and mission statement, is devoted solely to promoting the interests of (originally only Mexicans) Hispanics. Just try to imagine an organization called The Race, devoted solely to promoting the interests of White people. Then imagine that this organization receives millions of dollars from the federal government every year.
2) La Raza Believes in open borders between Mexico and the US. (but funnily enough, not between Mexico and Central America.)
3) Organizations affiliated and supported by La Raza claim that the US Southwest are occupied lands, and rightfully belong to a mythical nation called Aztlan.
4) La Raza supports dual US-Mexican citizenship for Mexicans living in the US, even though this is illegal under US law. (note that if a US citizen moves to Mexico, and becomes a Mexican citizen, they can never be equal to a native born Mexican, and neither can their children. It is only their grandchildren that receive full rights of citizenship. This is written into the Mexican Constitution.)
I believe that all men (in the broader sense) are created equal, and are entitled to equal treatment.
I believe that all men are individuals, and possess individual rights; not members of a group with group rights.
I believe all American citizens are that, Americans.
I believe in the territorial integrity of the US.
I will pose a question here. If the policies, and even existence, of an organization like La Raza is acceptable:
Would it be acceptable for me to form an organization called "The Race", promote white only issues and interests, receive money from the federal government to spend on whites only, advocate and promote the idea that the original 13 colonies rightfully belong to the UK and should be returned to it, promote dual US-UK citizenship, and advocate unlimited immigration from the UK, open and support schools that promote the ideas that reject the legitimacy of the US, declare it racist, and undermine it?
If not why not? Why is it OK for La Raza to do this and not white people?
